Drupalcon Toronto - Dries has a sense of humour!

DrupalCon Toronto was amazing experience this year -- Oct. 15th, and 16th, 2010.  The highlight was Dries,  of course.

When Hiep mentioned that he'd appeared on Friday afternoon I jumped up.  It didn't matter to me that he was already talking to important people at the back, quietly. Nor did it matter that there was a very serious conversation about SEO happening. I had to get a picture of the 3 of us with Dries.

When I asked him, I could tell by the look in his eye, he knew that I think of him as much better than a rock star.  A big smile and a smirk appeared on his face, like my brother used to get just before he'd mess with my head.

He said in his Belgian accent:  "Steve and I were thinking of getting a life-size cardboard cut-out of me for these things."

I smiled as if to say: "Great idea.  Can I get one?

He then explained further:  "You know.  It would be easier and more efficient?  People could take there picture with me and I wouldn't even have to be here."

I nodded, as if to say, I got it the first time man.  It's funny.  I smiled.  You rock.  Of course, I didn't say any of that. I just smiled again.

He smiled.  It was clear he wanted me to know he was a good-hearted good-humored Dude and not some arrogant geek.  That made him even more of a Dude for me.  Wow!  Good humour and carring all in one Begian.  Nice!

You can tell by the looks on our faces, Hiep, Geoff, myself and even Dries that we all dearly enjoy being a part of  such an awesome group of people.

Who knew such good times could be had at DrupaCon 2010 in the Toronto Reference library?

Long live Drupal,

Robbie Jackson

PS  I'm thinking of getting a life-sized image of him made from this picture.  After all, Geoff carved his pumpkin this year to be a little Drupal guy.  Who cares if our wives think we're crazy?

He's looking off to the left obviously at one of his mates to say, who the heck are these guys? Somebody quick pull the fire alarm. :)

I think you guys look like you're having a great time. I wish I loved my boring IT support job as much as you guys seem to.
